The old city hall of The Hague at the Vegetable Market, dating back to 1565, is too small. The Census Department and the council are housed externally. New construction will be held at the Alexander Field. Former Mayor S.J.R. de Monchy puts the first spade into the ground. SHOTS: - ext. The old town hall in The Hague is replaced, the first shovel is put in the sand, workers go to work, a model of the new city hall.
