Holly Evans (born 27 February 1987 in Adelaide, South Australia) is a field hockey player who has represented Australia at an international level as part of both the Australia women's national indoor hockey team and Australia women's national field hockey team, the Hockeyroos. She has also represented South Australia as part of the SA Suns team who compete in the Australian Hockey League.[1]

Personal

Holly lives in Adelaide, South Australia where she works as an Exercise Physiologist. She currently plays hockey as a striker in the Hockey SA Metropolitan Competition as a member of North East Hockey Club’s Premier League Women’s team where she also serves as co-coach.

Introduced to hockey by family at a young age her father Roy coached hockey for South Australia at a State level, whilst older brother Dylan Evans has been goalkeeper for the North East Premier League Men’s team and Southern Hotshots.

Field Hockey

Club Hockey

Holly started playing hockey at age 7 for Burnside Hockey Club. She moved to North East Hockey Club whilst still a junior player and made her debut at just age 12 as a striker for the North East Premier League Women’s side who she still plays for today.[2]

State Hockey

She has represented South Australia at numerous National competitions including as part of the SA Suns, the pinnacle state representative team who compete at the Australian Hockey League.[2]

In 2011, Holly was a member of the Australian Hockey League team the SA Suns that won the national championship.[3]

International Hockey

Known for her speed and swift stick skills, Holly’s international debut for the Australia women's national field hockey team, the Hockeyroos, hit its stride in early 2010, where she secured a spot in the 2011 Oceania Cup and 2012 Olympic squad; and continued her national representation until 2013. Her Outdoor Tournaments include:

Holly also made an impact on the hard court, being selected in the Australian Indoor Squad from 2007 to 2016 and impressively competing at two Indoor World Cups, all the while never losing sight of her beginnings as she continued her involvement in top level South Australian Hockey.[4]Her Indoor Tournaments include:

In May 2016, Holly was selected in the 2017 Australian Indoor World Cup Squad.[7]
