He was from a very poor Family. He lost both of his Parents at a very early age. After spending 14 academically brilliant years in Uluberia, he started living in Maniktala Ashrom (a spiritual hermitage or a monastery) in Kolkata for his survival. While he was studying English (Hons.) in the evening Classes from Rabindra Bharati University, during the day time he started working for a shipping company. With his aspiration of becoming an actor he took the brave step to relocate to Mumbai, and started working at Reliance Industries to support himself financially. Parallelly he did Management in Logistics & Supply Chain and Law in Customs. There after he left his Senior Manager’s Job for becoming an actor as soon as he got his break-through in 2007 for the Blockbuster Hit movie “Nabab Nandini”.

Bhalobasa Bhalobasa became a hit and people started calling him the Chocolate Boy. Thereafter he got critical plaudits for his characters in Jackpot and Risk. His role in Macho Mustanaa converted him from Chocolate Boy into the "macho" guy. He is known now as the "macho hero" of Tollywood and he achieved "eight packs" for this film. Le Halua Le became a hit, and his come back movie Majnu also received a great response.
