Higashi-Okayama Station (東岡山駅, Higashi-Okayama-eki, lit. "East Okayama Station") is a railway station in Okayama, Okayama Prefecture, Japan, operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR West).

Lines

Higashi-Okayama Station is served by the Sanyo Main Line and the Akō Line, and lies 136.1km from the starting of the Sanyo Main Line at Kōbe Station.

History

The station opened on 18 March 1891, initially named Nagaoka Station (長岡駅).[1] It was renamed Saidaiji Station (西大寺駅) on 1 January 1906, becoming Higashi-Okayama from 20 March 1961.[1]

With the privatization of Japanese National Railways (JNR) on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR West.[1]
