Heshima Salim Thompson[1] (/ˈʃmə/ EESH-mə; born 23 October 1986)[2] is a British actor and singer.

Thompson was born in the London Borough of Brent to Jamaican immigrants. [1] He has appeared on television in Spooks: Code 9 as Jez, Prime Suspect, Casualty, City Lights, Judge John Deed and Babyfather.[3][4] In theatre he has appeared at The Young Vic in Generations and at The Royal Court in Incomplete and Random Acts of Violence.[3] In 2009 he was nominated for a Screen Nation Award in the Young Shooting Star category.[3] He has toured with Amy Winehouse as a backing singer[3][4] and co-wrote a song with his brother Zalon, which was a hit in Japan.[3] In 2009 he auditioned for the sixth series of The X Factor[4] and in 2011 he auditioned for the eighth series. In 2010 he was cast as Asher Levi in series 2 of EastEnders: E20.[5]

In March 2012 Thompson auditioned for the first series of The Voice UK[6] He was selected by coach will.i.am and made it to the battle rounds of the competition, being beaten to the live shows by Tyler James.[7][8]
