Henry Pryor Almon Abbott

Henry Pryor Almon Abbott[1] (July 11, 1881 – April 4, 1945) was bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington, serving from 1929 to 1945. He was consecrated on May 15, 1929.

Abbott was educated at Rothesay Collegiate School, Rothesay, New Brunswick; the University of King's College, Windsor, Nova Scotia; and St Stephen's House, Oxford.[2] He was ordained in 1904. He was Curate at St Luke, Halifax, NS from 1904 to 1906; and Dean of Niagara, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada from 1906 to 1910.[3] Abbott was Dean of Trinity Cathedral Cleveland, Ohio from 1914 to 1919; Rector of Grace and St Peter’s Church, Baltimore from 1919 to 1928; and then of St Chrysostom’s Church, Chicago until his elevation to the Episcopate.
