Helgi Jónas Guðfinnsson is an Icelandic former professional basketball coach and player.

Basketball

National team career

From 1995 to 2001, Helgi played 63 games for the Icelandic national basketball team.[1]

Coaching career

Helgi was voted coach of the year of the men's Úrvalsdeild in the 2011-12 season,[2] when he won the Icelandic championship with Grindavík.[3]

He last coached Úrvalsdeild club Keflavík in the beginning of the 2014-2015 season before having to step down and retiring from coaching due to heart problems.[4][5]

Football

From 2002 to 2003, Helgi played 9 games in the Icelandic top-tier football league as well as appear in one cup game for Grindavík's football team.[6][7]
