Heinrich Meyer is credited as one of the designers and authors of the first two The Guild games as part of 4HEAD Studios and co-founder of RUNEFORGE Game Studio, now a part of Vienna, Austria-based THQ Nordic and producer of The Guild 3.[2][3][4] He has been credited with roles in the following departments of professional video games development: production, design, programming/engineering, writeing, audio, quality assurance, localization and creative services.[5]

Career - The Guild

From its earliest days, Heinrich Meyer has been heavily involved in the creation and maintenance, and thereby the preservation, of The Guild video game series as a series. Gamersglobal.de stated in 2014 [6] that "The Guild Series in the widest sense is a spiritual successor of the Die Fugger series[7][8] (for MS-DOS), and enjoyed great popularity in Germany."[9][10][11][12]

The video game developer helped design & author the Europa 1400: The Guild that was released in 2002[13], and was part of 4HEAD Studios that released The Guild 2. He later co-founded RUNEFORGE Game Studio that took over as developer for The Guild Series. After the release of the standalone version The Guild 2: Renaissance in 2010[14], and the insolvency of the old publisher JoWooD Entertainment, further development of the series was in doubt. Also, a necessary patch to the standalone work could not be delivered until 2014 due to a of resources at RUNEFORGE Game Studio.[15]

With the announcement of The Guild 3 at Gamescom 2014[16][17], as part of the general relaunch of the life simulation, economic simulation series, adequate funding was given to RUNEFORGE to ensure that an update to the old platform was developed after four years before the new generation game platform could be completed and distributed.[18][10]

This update corrected a lot of bugs submitted by the user community, amongst others on the RUNEFORGE forum[19] and Steam[20]. This repair work was done by Heinrich Meyer and the RUNEFORGE team on a voluntary basis, according to the licence owners on Facebook.[21]

Being part of the game development of The Guild Series since the start makes him a veteran in the gaming community and a link back to the first days of the typically German-Austrian ecosim genre.[6][9]
