Heino Finkelmann

Heino Finkelmann (born 12 February 1945, Gronau) is a former professor of the University of Freiburg and a highly cited[1] chemist in the area of liquid-crystalline elastomers. One of his famous works is the concept of the side chain nematic elastomers.[2] Finkelmann earned his PhD under the supervision of H. Stegemeyer from the University of Paderborn.[3] In 2003 he received a honoris causa doctorate from the Université Paul Sabatier in Toulouse.[4]
