“Heartbreak Beat” is a popular song written by Richard Butler, John Ashton, and Tim Butler of The Psychedelic Furs. The song appeared on the band's 1987 album Midnight to Midnight, and was released as its first single in October 1986.[1] The song also appeared on the UK music compilation Hits 5 in November 1986.

Though a comparative flop in their home country, only hitting #79 on the UK charts, the song is the band's highest charting single on the Billboard Hot 100. The song peaked at #26 in 1987, making "Heartbreak Beat" The Psychedelic Furs' only Top 40 hit in the US.[2] The song also reached the top 20 of both the Mainstream Rock and Dance charts.
