Headquarters Company (UK)

A Headquarters Company is a military unit of the British Army that provides logistical support to a battalion.

The majority of the time a HQ Company is made of the following components:

  • Battalion Headquarters - contains the main commanding officer, 2nd in command, and adjutant and senior staff of the regiment.
  • Signals Platoon - this contains members that will help the battalion with communications and support operations.
  • Light Aid Detachment - Helps with Aiding the battalion whether it is for the repair of weapons, optics, equipment or vehicles.[1]
  • Mechanized Transport Platoon - this platoon is made up of the main drivers of the battalion, supporting the rifles platoons with transport and movement support.
  • Quartermaster Department - this department is made of soldiers who will help the battalion to have the necessary equipment it may need.
  • Catering Platoon - this platoon is made up of the chefs and supporters that will help with feeding the battalion.
  • Regimental Administration Office - This office section is devoted to helping the Battalion with anything.

  • Regimental Recruiting Team - This Small 4 man team goes around, (whatever the home area is), and recruits soldiers to join the Battalion.
  • Provost Section- This small section is made of members who are affiliated with the Royal Military Police and help the battalion with any needs including imprisonment.
  • Welfare Office - This section helps the soldiers of the battalion with paying them / paying for them / insurance etc.
  • Padre - This man is devoted help those who require a blessing in time of war / peace.
