Harish Bhimani (born 15 February 1946) is a writer, anchor, voice-over artiste, on-screen person and documentary & corporate film maker. Recipient of the coveted President’s Medal in the National Film Awards 2016, in the category of voice overs / narration, he is most known as the voice of Samay, the narrator in the TV series Mahabharat (BR Chopra). A veteran of some 22,000 recordings, he is credited with several iconic recordings. Considered the most recognizable spoken voice in the country, he is the leading voice in many documentaries, corporate films, feature films, TV & Radio commercials, games, music albums apart from hosting public events and ceremonies, since the 1980s.[1][2][3] Media have variously described Harish Bhimani as ‘One of the Most Recognisable Voices of India’, ‘The Most-travelled Indian Compere’ and ‘A Writer with a Zing’.

Personal life

Originally hailing from Jaisalmer-Rajasthan, moving to Mandvi, Kutch District and Kolkata, Harish was born in Mumbai. Fourth of five siblings, he studied at Bharda New High School, Hansraj Morarji Public School, Elphinstone College, Mumbai, Laxminarayan Institute of Technology, Nagpur and did an MBA from the prestigious Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Bombay University.[4] Active in all his chosen spaces of work, Harish lives in Mumbai with his wife Rekha - a voice artiste. They have two daughters, Aditi Bhosle, and Ruchi Bhimani - an executive producer in feature films and a documentary maker.

Career

Harish Bhimani started with TV news anchoring on Bombay TV; from narrating the Mahabharat to India’s ambitious text-to-speech eVenture - with some 22,000 recordings of commercials, corporates & documentaries in between & counting; compering at Madison Square Garden to the Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House & Shrine Auditorium & writing TV serials Khandaan, Subah, Inkaar, Sukanya, Grahan... feature film ISIS - Enemies of Humanity to the legendary playback singer Lata Mangeshkar’s biography titled, ' In Search of Lata Mangeshkar, Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh (1995);[5] and recording globally through his unique voice website.

He narrated most of Sachin Shankar's ballets. Harish wrote & narrated an admirable film on Guru Dutt - The Guru of Celluloid - in 2008 for Guru Dutt Films Pvt Ltd.],.[6][7]
