Haptik is a chatbot platform based in Mumbai, India, founded in 2013.[1][2][3] The application is available on Android and iOS.[4][5] It is a personal assistant mobile app, powered by a combination of artificial intelligence and human assistance.[6][7]

History

In August 2013, Haptik was founded by Aakrit Vaish[8] and Swapan Rajdev, both University of Illinois engineering alumni.[9][10]

Partnership

The company partnered with Amazon Pay,[11] HDFC Life,[12] Ola Cabs,[13] Uber,[14] Times Internet, Mumbai City FC,[15] Coca-Cola,[16] Ziman,[17] Zomato,[18] BookMyShow,[18][14] Cleartrip, Goibibo, UrbanClap, Via.com, Dineout and Flipkart.[19] The company is also in partnership with Samsung India, which is using the Haptik to power its ‘My Assistant’ service that is pre-installed on the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.[2]

Funding

Haptik raised an undisclosed amount in its Series B funding round from Times Internet in April 2016.[20][21] However, the TechCrunch claims the company received $11.2M from Times Internet.[2] Earlier, the company had received funding of $1 million from Kalaari Capital in September 2014.[22][23]

Overview

Haptik is a chat-based app allowing users to set reminders, book flight tickets, movie tickets, train tickets, book cabs pay bills, recharge mobile and find nearby locations.[24] It uses artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning to deliver fast, precise results.[25][26]

  • In June 2017, Haptik won the AWS Mobility Awards in the "Deep Tech in Mobility" category.[27][28]
  • It was featured as a top global innovator at the Chatbot Summit 2017 in Berlin.[11]
  • Aakrit Vaish, the founder of Haptik listed in the BW Disrupt 40 Under 40 in 2017 by Businessworld.[29]

Others

It has open sourced its proprietary Named Entity Recognition system that powers the chatbots behind Haptik app at Chatbot Summit held in Berlin on June 26, 2017.[30][31]
