Hannes Jagerhofer is an Austrian entrepreneur and author.[1][2] He is best known for developing a number of major organizations in Austria.[3][4][5] He is also known for founding and developing Beach Volleyball Major Series, one of the biggest Beach Volleyball organizations in the world.[6][7][8][9][4]

Career

Hannes Jagerhofer studied medicine in Vienna. In 1980, he organized the first Surf Marathon in Carinthia. In 1985, he organized numerous events across Vienna in venues including the Technisches Museum Wien (where Prince (musician) would give a live performance).[10]

Jagerhofer developed an innovative approach to organizing events in Vienna that became known as “clubbing”.[11] This had a strong influence on Vienna’s nightlife, as reported by a BBC documentary. In 1990, Jagerhofer founded ACTS Promotions GmbH (currently ACTS Group). The organization operates several subsidiaries, including ACTS Sportveranstaltugnen GmbH (organizing sports events - especially the beach volleyball event in Klagenfurt), ACTS Communication GmbH (marketing agency) and interACTS GmbH (organizer of the YPD challenge).[12][13]

In 2003, Jagerhofer founded a Florida-based branch of ACTS International Inc., and led a helicopter shuttle service named HelicopterShuttle.com. In 2005 Jagerhofer founded Jabo Software Vertrieb- und Entwicklung GmbH (Sales and Development of Software), which developed the online travel search engine checkfelix.com which he successfully sold to KAYAK.

In 2009, Jagerhofer launched an online and offline-based recruiting tool for students called Young Powerful Dynamic (YPD Challenge). The tool tested lateral thinking, problem solving, and general knowledge, identifying motivated candidates. Selected candidates were awarded internships at major companies including Apple (company), Red Bull, Lazard, and Siemens. In 2014 and 2015, a television show on the YPD Challenge aired on ServusTV.

In 2013, Jagerhofer co-founded “Checkrobin”, an Internet platform for carpool packages (renamed “myrobin” in 2017). Checkrobin re-launched 2017 in Germany as an online portal for price comparison of parcel shipping.

Beach Majors

In 1996, Jagerhofer organized his first beach volleyball tournament in Klagenfurt. In 2015, in collaboration with Red Bull, Jagerhofer founded the Beach Majors GmbH.[14] Beach Majors currently organizes the Beach Volleyball Major Series.[15] The event is part of the FIVB World Tour and consists the highest level of international beach volleyball.[4] The events have been held in Austria, Croatia, Switzerland, Canada, Germany, Norway and the United States.[16] In 2017, Jagerhofer and the Beach Majors GmbH were awarded the hosting rights for the 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships, which was staged on Vienna’s Danube Island.[17]
