Hannah Smith (7 January 1856 10 January 1966)[1] was born in Salford, England and lived to become a British supercentenarian and the oldest recognised living person in the world.[2]

Smith collapsed on her 110th birthday, and died three days later at Woodhouse, Sheffield.[2] Smith smoked until five years before her death.[3] Smith lived much of her life in Chesterfield and was a former dressmaking lecturer.[4][5]

She was one of the first British supercentenarians. Her death left British man John Mosely Turner as the world's oldest person.
