Hamilton County Schools (or Hamilton County Department of Education) is the school district that serves Hamilton County, Tennessee, USA. After a 1995 referendum, the separate Chattanooga City Schools district was merged into the county's in 1997. [2] About 2,300 high school seniors graduated from the system in May 2011.[3]
District Leadership and Schools
The Department of Education serves about 45,000 students in Hamilton County using 2,914 teachers at 79 schools.The schools are divided into learning communities with an Executive Director leading each: Rock Point (Dr. Robert Sharpe), Missionary Ridge (Dr. Larrie Reynolds), North River (Dr. Neelie Parker) and Harrison Bay (Dr. John Tharp). The Opportunity Zone was created to prevent state takeover of the poorest performing schools in the district. Chief of Staff is Dr. Nakia Townes Edwards, Chief of HR is Mr. Keith Fogleman, Chief of Schools is Dr. Justin Robertson and Chief of Operations is Dr. Kenneth Bradshaw. [4]
