Hajime Syacho (はじめしゃちょー, Hajime Shachō, born 14 February 1993) is a Japanese YouTuber who, as of May 2017, has the largest number of YouTube channel subscribers in Japan.[3] He is part of the multi-channel network Uuum. He is nicknamed Hajimen (はじめん) and Moyashi (もやし).[4][5]

Biography

Early life

He was born on 14 February 1993, in Tonami, Toyama. He was named "Hajime" () because of his desire to be fine (元気).[1][Videos 1]

When he was in middle school and high school, he became a vice chairman at the student council, and at the school he says that he "was a type in the group."[Videos 2][6]

He likes to take videos since high school, and he was shooting videos about "taking pants off while wearing trousers," etc., as if he was playing with his friends.[7]

Since he was dedicated to the basketball club, his grades were not good until his university entrance exam, but as he was dating at that time he decided to go to a far field with a recommendation admission, and started studying for about ten hours a day and taking the first place in the school by a trial test. However, since he gave 150 points lower than the model test at the centre exam actual number, he went to Shizuoka University, which was not the first aspiration in recommendation from a high school faculty member. After that, after having broken up with his date, he began posting videos to YouTube with his friends on the spring vacation of his college freshman year, thinking, "Let's do something for myself."[Videos 3][lower-alpha 1]

After starting YouTube

In March 2012, his classmate from university and his video team "Hajime Company" were set up and started video posting on YouTube. The number of views of his first submitted video was three.[8][lower-alpha 2] After that, he opened a personal channel and changed the name from "Hajime-shachō" (はじめ社長, President Hajime) to Hajime Syacho (はじめしゃちょー).[Videos 5][6]

From September 2013 until March 2014 he studied English in the United Kingdom, after returning to Japan on 1 April 2014, he announced his affiliation to Uuum.[9]

He appeared in the YouTube Japan television advertisement "Suki na koto de, Ikite iku" on June 2015. Along with this, his full-page ads were posted on Weekly Shonen Jump[10] and Shibuya 109, and his exposure on media other than YouTube was also increased. The shooting day of the television commercial and the schedule of his educational practical training of the university overlapped, and after having troubled it, he decided to live in the world of videos, "let's go to the funny one because life is only once."[6]

On March 2016, in addition to the number of subscribers in his YouTube channel which became the best in Japan, he graduated from university.[11][12]

On February 2017, he opened a fee-based fan site "Hajimeno."[13]

On March 2017, Mizunyan, who is doing webcast activities revealed Hajime Syacho's bipolar allegiance and found that he was associating with Yuka Kinoshita, also belonging to the same office Uuum.[14][15] In addition, he was suspected of having a relationship by having a female model stayed at his home.[14] After that, he released a video that admits his bipolar allegations, denying a relationship with the female model.[14] On 30 March of the same year, he announced his suspension of activities on his fan club site.[16] He later resumed his activities on YouTube on 12 May.[17]

On 2017, a woman who seems to have watched his video suffered from stalker damages.[18] In the beginning of November, the woman hurried to Hajime Syacho's house and received an order for prohibition of attachment based on the stalker regulation law from the police. However in December she was also arrested on suspicion of violating the law and invading houses because she entered his house without permission from the entrance.[19] The woman was later arrested in February for stalking another YouTuber as well.[18]

Personal life

He has three channels on YouTube, and on the main channel he submit various videos regardless of the genre such as experiments, hidden camera, answers to questions, and product introductions. On his sub-channel he deal mainly with everyday small stories, Let's Play, collecting Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, and tie-in videos with companies. The third channel deals with his life with his roommates.

The reason he came to post vigilant videos was that his discipline was severe and his play was raised in a family that were often suppressed.[Videos 6][7]

Influence

Besides YouTube, the number of followers on Twitter is fifth in Japan[20] and the number on simultaneous viewers on TwitCasting is ninth.[21]

In many cases, he plan the participation of adults taking advantage of their own influence, and in 2015 he recruited 740 participants at the event that Yokohama City Kanazawa Ward conducted, which updated the Guinness World Record for the largest number of participants in a game of statues.[22]

In addition, receiving requests from companies, etc., he frequently posting product review videos and participating in events and campaigns.

Meanwhile, when he posted hidden camera videos saying "I will study abroad in the United States for 3 years" that repeats the moving[23] due to viewer's pushing at home, troubles[24] such as being picked up at the news site also happens, wasting Nivea cream, suspected bipolarity, destruction of golf clubs, and making tempura with a broken personal computer, which results him being flamed frequently.[25][14][26][27]

He said that the dangerous thing of putting a telop so that the viewer does not imitate it, and although the video is taken within the scope of the law, the video judged as having a problem later was made unpublished.[8][Videos 7]
