Hailie Janae Mace (born March 23, 1997) is an American women's soccer player who plays as a defender for the UCLA Bruins.[1]

Early Life

Mace was born and raised in Ventura, California where she attended Buena High School. She played her youth club soccer for Eagles SC in the ECNL. [2]

UCLA, 2015-present

In 2015 Mace led all Bruins freshman in games played at 19. In 2016 she started all 22 games for UCLA, helping the team to record 9 shutouts. In 2017 she was a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist, First-team All-American, All-West Region and All-Pac-12. Mace led the team with four game-winning goals and once again started ever game for the Bruins. UCLA advanced to the College Cup final in 2017, where they would lose 3-2 to rival Stanford. [3]

International Career

Mace has participated in U.S. Youth National Team camps with the U-20s and U-23s. She received her first call-up to the United States women's national team in February 2018 as she was named to the preliminary roster for the 2018 SheBelieves Cup, however she did not make the final 23 player roster. [4] Mace received another call-up in March 2018, as she was added to the roster as a replacement for injured defender Casey Short for a pair of friendlies against Mexico.[5] Mace earned her first cap on April 8th as she came in a second half sub for Tierna Davidson. [6]

In September 2018, Mace was named to the U.S. WNT 20 player roster for the 2018 CONCACAF Women's Championship, she was the only college player named to squad. [7]
