Hadgaon taluka

Hadgaon taluka or Hadgaon tehsil is a taluka in Nanded district of the Indian state of Maharashtra.[1] Tehsil has one municipal council i.e. Hadgaon and 154 villages. According to 2001 census data, the total population is 259986. Average sex ratio is 938. About 90% population is rural. The child sex ratio (i.e. children between 0 and 6 years age) for taluka is 910 which is below its average sex ratio, but the Tribal Village Taroda has 1456 as child sex ratio(one of the highest in India). The literacy rate for taluka is 75.68%.

Caste-wise, scheduled cast population constitutes 21.7% and Scheduled tribe population constitutes 11.7% population in taluka. Religion-wise Hindu constitutes 76.8%, Buddhists 15.96%, and Muslims 6.29%.

Hadgaon taluka is attached to Hingoli loksabha constituency and not included in Nanded.

. The Hadgaon taluka's economy is mainly agriculturally based. The industry sector is not developed, so the service sector is also not developed. There is scope for agro-based and forest-based industries for development. The major crops grown are cotton, jowar, bajara, soybean, banana, and other horticultural crops like vegetables, flower etc. The organic wild custard apple is major forest produce in Tribal belt, the other forest produce are firewood, gum, tendu leaf etc. The custard apple powder industry and dairy industry can be developed in this Tribal region. The taluka face the intense unemployment problem. The 90% of the classified main workers(i.e. working for more than 6 months) are working in the agriculture sector as cultivators or labourers.

The important pilgrimage centres are Kedarnath temple at Kedarguda, Lord Datta and Renuka at Dattbardi Hadgaon, the Jain temple near Hadgaon, the Mahadev mandir at Gaitond, Ganpati mandir at Hadgaon etc.

The Health facilities are mainly provided by government at PHC(primary health centres), CHC(community health centres) and private Health cares are only developed at district place. The some region of taluka shows the health issues like malnutrition, IMR, MMR, superstitions like preference to mantrik over doctors in case of snakebite, dogbite etc.

The education system is progressive with government schools, Ashram schools, and private schools. The 25% quota system to socially and economically backward classes in private education institutes under Right to Education, 2010 is helping the underprivileged sections of the society.

There were 16 talukas in Nanded district as of November 2014, viz. Nanded, Ardhapur, Bhokar, Biloli, Deglur, Dharmabad, Hadgaon, Himayatnagar, Kandhar, Kinwat, Loha, Mahur, Mudkhed, Mukhed, Naigaon, and Umri.[2] In 1981, there were eight talukas in the district, viz. Nanded, Hadgaon, Kinwat, Bhokar, Biloli, Deglur (Degloor), Mukhed and Kandhar.[3]
