Héctor Ortiz Montañez (born October 14, 1969) is a Puerto Rican professional baseball catcher and coach.
He was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico and later played in Major League Baseball from 1998 to 2002 for the Kansas City Royals and the Texas Rangers in the American League.
He batted and threw right-handed, appearing in a total of 93 games over four seasons, with a career batting average of .288.
After his playing career, Ortiz served in the Rangers' organization as a minor league coach, manager, catching instructor and has been on the major league coaching staff since 2015, as the first base coach in 2015 through 2017 and is the bullpen coach for the 2018 season.[1]
