Guy de Lasteyrie

Constance Whitney Warren and Count Guy de Lasteyrie du Saillant in 1912

Guy Louis Jules de Lasteyrie du Saillant, marquis de Lasteyrie du Saillant (October 3, 1879 – August 14, 1944), of Ponthieu, was a member of the Lasteyrie du Saillant noble family of France.

Biography

He was born on October 3, 1879 to Louis Pierre Gilbert de Lasteyrie du Saillant, marquis de Lasteyrie du Saillant (August 19, 1849 - March 19, 1923) and Olivia Elizabeth Goodlake (June 28, 1853 - March 30, 1916). Guy was referred to as "Count" Guy de Lasteyrie between 1879-1923, because it was customary to refer to the eldest son of a marquis as "Count." It was also customary for the eldest son of a marquis to refrain from using the title "marquis" until the time of his father's death. Guy was a descendant of American Revolutionary War hero Gilbert du Motier, marquis de Lafayette (1757-1834). Guy married Constance Whitney Warren, the daughter of George Henry Warren II, in St Patrick's Cathedral on December 19, 1912. [1][2] Guy and Constance were divorced in either 1920 or 1922.

Guy died on August 14, 1944.
