Gusti Ayu Karang

Gusti Ayu Karang was a regent in Indonesia from 1809 to 1814.[1] Her home kingdom was the Kingdom of Karangasem.[2] She was the mother of Dewa Agung Istri Kanya, whose father and co-regent was Dewa Agung Putra I.[3][4] She invented new conditions for Dewa Agung Istri Kanya to become the "Virgin Queen of Klungkung."[5] A poem about Gusti Ayu Karang, titled "Gusti Ayu Karang", is in the book Feminist Poems by Nancy Quinn Collins, published in 2016.[6]
