Gushikawa Chōei
Gushikawa Wōji Chōei (具志川 王子 朝盈, 4 January 1610 – ?), also known by Kume Gushikawa Wōji Chōei (久米 具志川 王子 朝盈) and his Chinese style name Shō Kyō (尚 亨), was a Ryukyuan prince who served as sessei, a post often translated as "prime minister", from 1654 to 1666.
Shō Kyō was the seventh son of Shō Kyū (Prince Kin Chōkō) and Shuriōkimi Aji-ganashi. He was also a half-brother of King Shō Hō. After Shō Shitsu succeeded the throne, Shō Kyō led a mission Edo in 1649.
Prince Gushikawa was also the author of Ishinagu no uta (石なぐの歌), a Ryūka which was the de facto national anthem of Ryukyu Kingdom.[1] Some scholars have thought it was very similar to Kimigayo, the national anthem of Japan.[2]
