Gul Panra (Pashto: ګل پاڼه, born September 6, 1992), real name Mehnaz, is a Pakistani Pashto singer. She was born in Peshawar, Pakistan.[1] She got fame in short time from Coke Studio Pakistan (season 8) with her duet Atif Aslam.[2][3] Gul Panra is one of the most popular female performers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Afghanistan and has extensively toured Pashtun dominated areas across the world.[4]

Early life and education

Gul Panra belongs to the capital city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar. After completing her early education, she attended University of Peshawar and completed her master's degree in Social Work.[5]

Singing career

Gul Panra started off her singing career in 2010, at the age of 20 years old. During her initial stages as a singer she sang in concerts and different marriage functions within Peshawar city. She only sung in Pashto language at the beginning and had experience in many local and traditional Pashto songs as well.Then she got a chance of entry in to the Pashto film industry as a playback singer and performed in more than 20 Pashto films.[5]

Coke Studio (Pakistan)

In 2015, Gul Panra sung a song "Man Aamadeh Am" Persian song originally sung by Googoosh with Atif Aslam in eighth season of Coke Studio. Gul Panra in this song had sung a Dari version, while Atif Aslam had sung Urdu version.[5] She has also performed in episode 2, season 11 a song " RASHA MAMA " alongside a senior pashto singer "Zarsanga" and a pashto band "Khumariyaan".In 2018 she sung the famous Pakistani song "Hawa Hawa"[6] with singer Hassan Jahangir.
