Governor of the Bank of Namibia

The governor is the head official of the Bank of Namibia. He is responsible for implementing Namibia's monetary policy and chairing the meetings of the bank's board of directors.

List of governors

The governors to date have been:

  • Dr WL Bernard (16 June 1990 until 31 August 1991)
  • E Karlsson (1 September 1991 until 31 December 1993)
  • Dr J Ahmad (1 January 1994 till 31 December 1996)
  • Tom Alweendo (1 January 1997 until 25 March 2010)[1]
  • Ipumbu Shiimi (since 25 March 2010)[2]
