Gordon McPhate

Gordon Ferguson McPhate (born 1 June 1950)[1] is an Anglican priest and former Dean of Chester;[2] he retired on 30 September 2017.[3]

McPhate was educated at the University of Aberdeen, Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, the University of Surrey and the University of Edinburgh.[4] After a spell as a tutor in Physiology at Clare College, he was ordained in 1979.[5] He later held lectureships at Guy’s Hospital and the University of St Andrews.[6] He was an honorary curate at Sanderstead,[7] then an honorary Minor Canon at Southwark Cathedral[8] and an honorary chaplain at St Andrews,[9] before his appointment[10] to the Deanery.[11]
