Gordon Cottington (2 April 1911 – 7 June 1996) was a Scottish rugby union, and professional rugby league footballer of the 1930s and 1940s. He played representative level rugby union (RU) for Scotland (Heritage № 504), and at club level for Kelso RFC,[2] as a hooker, i.e. number 2,[1] and club level rugby league (RL) for Castleford,[3] as a hooker, i.e. number 9.

Playing career

International honours

Gordon Cottington won caps for Scotland (RU) in 1934 against Ireland, and England, in 1935 against Wales, and Ireland, and in 1936 against England.[1]

County League appearances

Gordon Cottington played in Castleford's victory in the Yorkshire County League during the 1938–39 season.[4]

Gordon Cottington married a Miss Robertson, they had children; Sylvia M. Cottington (birth registered second ¼ 1939 (age 7879) in Leeds district), and Conryn E. Cottington (birth registered second ¼ 1943 (age 7475) in Leeds district)
