Godfrey Gao (高以翔; born September 22, 1984) is a Taiwanese-born Canadian model and actor. Gao was the first Asian model to be signed on by European luxury brand Louis Vuitton.

Life and career

Gao was born in Taipei, Taiwan,[1] to a Taiwanese father and a Malaysian mother.[2] He moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, during his childhood, and later studied at Capilano University in North Vancouver. Gao's father is Shanghainese but raised in Taiwan while his mother is a Peranakan Chinese from George Town.[3]

Since returning to Taiwan to work as a model in 2004, Gao has appeared in several TV dramas and films. He played Magnus Bane in the film adaption of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013). He is also the first Asian male to model for the European fashion brand Louis Vuitton. He is managed by JetStar Entertainment,[4][5][6][7][8][9] and joined Korean actress Yoo In-na for Wedding Bible.[10] In 2017 he is set to appear in the romantic comedy film Love is a Broadway Hit, alongside Wang Likun, Wang Chuanjun, Yuan Li and Naren Weiss.[11]
