Sandra "Sandie" Crisp (born November 25, 1960), also known by her stage name The Goddess Bunny, is an American transgender entertainer. She is also a internet personality, drag queen, actress, and model.[1]
Crisp was born stricken with polio and was subject to the malpractice of multiple doctors resulting in the further disfigurement of her body. She grew up in various foster homes for disabled children. During her childhood, she routinely endured physical and sexual abuse from members of her foster care families largely due to her gender identity and disability. She learned to flip the bird quick and embraced her deformities as star-like qualities.
Life and career
Sandie Crisp was born Johnnie Baima on November 25, 1960. She developed polio as a child and has been disabled ever since.[2][3][4][5]
She made her acting debut as "Charlean" in the 1986 film Hollywood Vice Squad, and made an appearance in the music video for "The Dope Show" by Marilyn Manson."[3]
In 1998, she was the subject of a documentary called The Goddess Bunny, directed by Nick Bougas.[6] A remake is currently in the works, scheduled for a 2018 release.
Controversy
Crisp became a subject of controversy when a scene from the documentary The Goddess Bunny, which featured her tap dancing, was released in a video online. The video, entitled "Obedece a la morsa" or "Obey the Walrus" [7] subsequently went viral.[8]
