Glaceau Smartwater (stylized smartwater) is a brand of bottled mineral water owned by The Coca-Cola Company.[1][2] Introduced in 1996 in the United States, by 2016 it was one of the top five brands of bottled water in that country[3] with sales worth nearly $830 million in 2017.[4]

The brand is now also available in other countries including the United Kingdom,[5] India,[6] Australia, Croatia and Canada.

Product

It is manufactured by vaporisation to remove impurities, followed by condensation back to water[7] and readdition of mineral electrolytes such as potassium, calcium and magnesium.[8]

The Smartwater bottle is popular for use in ultralight backpacking because it's relatively light and strong, and makes efficient use of space.[9]

Pack and variants

In India, Smartwater is available in a 750ml PET bottle priced at Rs. 50. While globally, the brand has several variants[10] such as Glaceau Smartwater Sparkling Green Apple,[11] Lemon, and Apple & Cherry.[12][13] In India, only the Still water variant has been launched.

Marketing and sponsorship

Since 2007 actress Jennifer Aniston has been the ambassador for the brand globally[14] and has been involved in a number of campaigns as the face of the product.[15]

Smartwater was launched in India through its association with TED Talks India Nayi Soch as the official sponsor for property.[16]
