Girls' Last Tour

In a time following a massive war, two girls, Chito and Yuuri, travel aimlessly through a dark abandoned factory. After Yuuri slobbers all over her hand during her sleep, Chito manages to find a way out by feeling the direction of the breeze. The next day, the girls explore a past battlefield and come across an abandoned plane, where they find explosives and rations.

Taking shelter from a snowstorm, Chito and Yuuri discover a power plant with hot running water, using it to make a makeshift bath. Afterwards, Chito gets upset at Yuuri when she accidentally throws one of her books onto a fire. The next day, after the storm passes, the girls go to collect some drinking water from the melted snow, deciding to wash their clothes as well. While doing so, they come across a dead fish and roast it for their dinner.

While pondering where the fish they ate came from, the girls come across another survivor named Kanazawa. Blowing up a building to allow them to cross a gorge and providing them with a map, Kanazawa gets a ride from the girls as they make their way to the upper levels of the city. Arriving at a tower at the center of the city, the group take an elevator towards the upper level. However, the elevator suddenly tilts, causing Kanazawa to drop all of his maps and become depressed. After Yuuri manages to cheer him up, Kanazawa leaves the girls with his camera before setting off to make more maps.

Yuuri uses Kanazawa's camera to take pictures of curious stone statues all around the city while Chito discovers one of its functions. Later, the girls explore a temple when their lantern suddenly goes out, leaving Yuuri to fumble around in the darkness until they both discover a bright room.

The girls spend the night in an empty apartment, picturing what it'd be like to live there. Feeling tired from staying up all night, Chito takes a midday nap and has a peculiar dream. Later, the girls take shelter from the rain, taking an interest in the sound the rain makes when hitting various objects.

While trying to fix their broken down tank, the girls encounter a woman named Ishii. In exchange for agreeing to fix their tank, Ishii asks the girls to help her finish an airplane she can use to escape the city. Once completed, Ishii sets off on the plane only for it to fall apart mid-flight. Luckily, she manages to parachute safely down to the lower levels of the city.

Chito struggles with her fear of heights as she and Yuuri walk on top of some pipes before discovering there is a path inside them. They eventually find a facility filled with machines and ingredients, which they deduce were used to make rations. Using what ingredients they can find, the girls manage to make their own rations.

The girls discover a strange place featuring black slabs filled with drawers, finding a mysterious device and other seemingly meaningless objects among them. After having a discussion about memories, Chito deduces that the drawers are graves containing the belongings of those who died so they would be remembered. Afterwards, the girls ascend a spiralling path up another tower, becoming forced to take an outside path that collapses behind them. Exploring the top of the tower, the girls find some bottles containing beer and spend the night getting drunk under the moonlight.

While exploring a facility, the girls discover an aquarium containing a single fish guarded by a robotic caretaker. Explaining that the facility was once used for farming, the robot allows the girls to swim in one of the empty aquarium tanks, only for Chito to wind up almost drowning. Later that night, the large construction robot also inhabiting the facility begins dismantling it, allegedly due to a bug in its programming. Fearing for the fish's life, the girls save it by destroying the construction robot using explosives, leaving Chito to ponder what it means for something to have life.

The girls ride on a transport train, deciding to explore its carriages filled with broken down machines. After riding the train til the end, Yuuri starts hearing music coming from the radio she picked up earlier, which they hear clearly upon reaching the surface. The next day, as the girls explore a large hole for some water, they discover a strange lifeform that can communicate to them using the radio. Naming it "Nuko", the girls decide to take the creature with them on their journey.

While Yuuri trains Nuko to eat bullets, Chito picks up a book written in English. They soon arrive at a strange contraption, where music starts playing on the radio again. Deciding to head towards where the music is coming from, the girls are interrupted by a large robot falling in front of them. After Nuko powers up the robot, Yuuri tries out some of its weapons, causing great destruction to the city. The next day, the girls follow the music's signal to a fully functioning submarine, inside of which they find nuclear weapons.

While exploring the submarine, the girls manage to sync all the pictures from their camera to the submarine's computer, including those Kanazawa took before he gave them the camera. Among the files, they find various videos of past events, ranging from a group of school girls designing their own robot to the war that led to the destruction of the world. Later, a larger Nuko resembling the pillars they have encountered suddenly appears and swallows Yuuri. Determined to save Yuuri at all costs, Chito pursues the creature outside the submarine and thankfully finds Yuuri safe and sound, as the creature had only ingested the radio she had with her. The creature then explains that their race's purpose is to consume and stabilise unstable energy, like power sources and weapons, saying that the world will eventually come to an end. Before leaving with Nuko, the creature point out that it and the rest of its kind have not discovered any other humans besides Yuuri and Chito, implying they may be among the final humans on Earth, but it also points out that, they have not checked the top level of the city. With the submarine completely shut down, Chito and Yuuri continue their journey towards the top level of the city, with a new sense of how important they are to each other.
