Gerry Leonard (Gaelic footballer)
Gerard (Holy Moly) Leonard is a former Gaelic footballer and coach from Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland.[1]
He played for Ballina and won the Moclair Cup in 1985 and 1987.[1]
As a teacher at Gortnor Abbey school of the Convent of Jesus and Mary, Crossmolina, he coached teams to Mayo, Connacht and All-Ireland titles.
His former pupils include: Stephen Rochford, Gabriel Walsh, Cormac Rowland, Peadár Gardiner and Jason Coy.
Leonard helped coach Ballina to the 2005 All-Ireland title. His son Colm played in the match.[2]
Leonard is still influential in Mayo Football.[3]
