History

The company was founded on 24 July 1998 in Belgrade, FR Yugoslavia, under name "Delta Osiguranje", as part of the Serbian holding company Delta Holding. In March 2006, the company changed its name to "Delta Generali", after the Italian insurance company Assicurazioni Generali bought more than 50% of shares from Delta Holding, and became the majority shareholder of the company.[5][6] At the time of purchase, "Delta Osiguranje" had around 500,000 clients, 670 employees and annual premium income of 40 million euros.[5]

In May 2014, Generali CEE Holding B.V. bought the remaining 49.98% of shares owned by Delta Holding in "Delta Generali".[6] Following the purchase, the company changed its name to "Generali Osiguranje Srbija".
