Navdeepak Singh Chahal (Punjabi: ਨਵਦੀਪਕ ਸਿੰਘ ਚਹਿਲ, (Hindi: नवदीपक सिंह चैहल); 11 November 1978), commonly known as Gavie Chahal, is an Indian actor from Mansa, Punjab.[1] He is known for his Hindi film debut in Yash Raj's 2012 film Ek Tha Tiger.[2] He also featured in notable Punjabi films including Yaaran Naal Baharan, Mehendi Wale Hath, Majajan and Tere Ishq Nachayva.

Early life

He was born in Mansa, Punjab to the Punjabi Jat Sikh family. He spent his early years in his hometown, Mansa, and later moved to Patiala. For pursuing further studies as a mechanical engineer, he took admission at government polytechnic Batala (1994 - 1997) batch. Chahal received various offers from the world of modelling and Punjabi music industry, which offered him a chance to work in music videos of leading singers from the Punjabi industry. He also had worked in the Punjab Police.

Career

Chahal participated in many pageants and won the title of Mr. Punjab in 2000. His first music video, "Jattan de putt saadh ho gaye" was a roaring success, after which he appeared in many music videos. In 2005, he shifted to Mumbai where he grabbed a role in the successful daily soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, produced by Balaji Telefilms, but later, he left the show to act in the Punjabi film Yaaran Naal Baharan. After this, he got an offer in the Punjabi film Yaaran Naal Baharan, under the coveted Yash Raj banner. In 2011, Chahal signed for playing the role of Shivendu Kaushik in Mrs. Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuein, Broadcast on Zee TV, but later he left the show in March 2012 as he had to shoot for the Bollywood film Ek Tha Tiger.[3] He also participated in the AXN's adventure show Fear Factor, in which he won the championship.
