Gasparilla Film Festival

Gasparilla International Film Festival (GIFF, stylized as gịff) is one of Tampa Bay's largest independent film festivals. It was established in the summer of 2006 and is operated by the Tampa Film Institute, a full-time 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to advancing film education and supporting filmmakers, as well as community involvement in film in the Tampa Bay area. The festival maintains an Executive Director and a volunteer staff of over 70. The festival has been sponsored Suncoast Credit Union for about three years.[1][2]

Films screened at the festival include The Iceman, starring Michael Shannon, screened in 2013; and Enemy starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Boys of Abu Ghraib starring Sean Astin, which were both screened in 2014.

In addition to the annual film festival, GIFF provides local residents with monthly screenings of the Global Lens series at the Tampa Museum of Art, and other special film and entertainment events year round. The festival also hosts a High School competition for local high school short films.[2]
