The Ganguly–Durjoy Trophy is a cricket trophy that is awarded to the winner of Test series between India and Bangladesh. It was first awarded in 2017. The trophy is dedicated to the two great captains of the two countries, Sourav Ganguly and Naimur Rahman Durjoy.[1][2][3]
Background
The Bangladesh Cricket Board and the Board of Control for Cricket in India determined in 2016 that all future bilateral tours of their sides shall be contested over the Ganguly–Durjoy Trophy. The naming of the series has, much like other named series, helped to offer Test series between the two nations an emotional and auspicious feeling.
The first Ganguly-Durjoy Trophy was contested as a single-match series in February 2017. India emerged as the victor, with Indian captain Virat Kohli top-scoring and claiming the man of the series award.
