Ganak

Ganak' is a title used in some areas of India, such as Assam and Odisha, for astrologers. They claim to be of Brahmin descent and may well be but are considered to be of relatively low status by other Brahmin communities, who believe them to be of a degraded status. Synonyms for the name include Surya Vipra, Daivajna, Acharya, and Graha Vipra.[1]

They claim to be descendants of Sakaldwipiya Brahmins.[2]
