History

GAHS was originally built as a military academy in 1811, then renovated in 1936. The older part of the high school was turned into a junior high, after the replacement in the 1950s, which was added on. The new high school has recently been completed and has been in use since August 24, 2009.

There is a full variety of sports and programs at Gallia Academy, including FFA (Future Farmers of America), Key Club, and many choirs and bands such as the symphonic choir, Madrigals show choir, marching band, jazz band, pep club, and an orchestra. Many of these bands have been locally and regionally renowned, including the jazz, symphonic and marching bands.
