Gaby Wood

Gaby Wood (born 1971) is an English journalist and the literary director of the Booker Prize foundation. She took overall control of the Booker at the conclusion of the prize for 2015.[1]

After reading French at Cambridge University, Wood worked for The Observer from 2002. During her time at the paper she was deputy literary editor, arts editor, editor of the review section and New York correspondent.

Wood was appointed as The Daily Telegraph's head of books in January 2010.[2][3]

Wood's book Living Dolls: A Magical History of the Quest for Mechanical Life (US edition: Edison's Eve)[4] was published in 2002.[5]

During her career, Wood has also written for the London Review of Books, Granta and the American edition of Vogue.[2]

Appointed in June 2015, a few weeks after her predecessor Ion Trewin had died, Wood is the daughter of Michael Wood, Professor Emeritus in English at Princeton University, who was the chairman of the Booker judges in 2015.[1] Wood was herself a Booker judge in 2011.[1][6]
