Gaëtan Antony Varenne (born 24 June 1990 in Le Puy-en-Velay) is a French-Israeli [1] professional football player who currently plays in the Israeli Premier League for Beitar Jerusalem. His physical properties mean he is often likened to Olivier Giroud.[2]
Early years
Varenne, after starting in Le Puy en Velay from 1998 to 2004,[3] punctuated by a brief stint at Toulon during the 2000–01 season,[3] Varenne joined the training club AS Montferrand where he remained for four seasons between 2004 to 2008,[3] before being spotted by Clermont Foot with whom he played in U19 national the following season.[3] Following this, Varenne was released by Clermont Foot Cournon in Auvergne.[3]
Club career
Over the past three seasons in CFA2, he gradually made a starting spot before hatching definitely this season by becoming the top scorer of all Amateur Championships in France with no less than 28 goals.[3] Varenne, scored 11 goals in 2011–12 season, beats came in second in the kingdom[4] and with this accomplishment; Clermont, Nantes, Bastia, Ajaccio and Dijon entered by the transfer list.[2] Varenne, overtaken by a trial in Dijon;[2] on 27 June 2012 signed a two-year contract with the Corsican club Bastia.[3] In November 2013, his contract is broken with Bastia by mutual agreement. Then Gaetan signed in December 2013 with the Israelian Club Ashdod until the end of the year. After one goal and some exhibitions, Gaetan is injured and finished the season without club. In the summer 2014, after several trials in France which were unsuccessful, Geaten signed a two-year contract in israeli second ligue with the Maccabi Yavne. Following this, he signs with Hapoel Jerusalem a two-year contract. After a very hopeful second season with Hapoel Jerusalem, Gaetan signs with Beitar Jerusalem a two-year contract in Israeli Premier League.
In March 2018, a group sex video with the soccer and his three then teammates at Hapoel Jerusalem was released through social media. In the video, he performing sexual acts on a motionless woman while he degrading, hitting and singing.[5] The police released him home with no charges.
