GSK Velu (born 30 June 1967) is an Indian Businessman and Serial Healthcare Entrepreneur.[1] Velu is the founder & Chairman of Trivitron Healthcare Group.,[2][3] Founder and Chairman of Neuberg Diagnostics and Maxivision Eye Care Hospitals, Founder and Managing Director of Apollo White Dental Ltd and Apollo Dialysis Clinics, the Joint Venture with Apollo Hospitals Group.[4][5] Velu has been awarded several recognitions and has been named as parallel entrepreneur by Forbes.[6]

Early life and education

Velu was born in Aralvaimozhi, Nagercoil. Velu did his MBA from Loyola Institute of Business Administration. He received a doctorate degree from IBAM, Kolkata.[7][8]

Career

Velu started his career in 1990 with an MNC. He founded Trivitron Diagnostics and Trivitron Medical Systems in 1997. In 1998 he joined Metropolis Diagnostics.[9][10]

In 2009, along with his Japanese partner Hitachi Aloka, he started a joint Venture despite a prevailing hostile environment for Med Tech Manufacturing in the country.[11]

Velu entered into a joint venture with Apollo Hospital Group for Dental/Dialysis service verticals in 2011 and founded Maxivision for Eye Hospitals Group in 2012.[12] GSK Velu has been appointed as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Estonia in 2016. The appointment of Dr.G.S.K. Velu will enhance bilateral trade between the two countries with focus on biotechnology, tele-medicine and education.[13]

Entrepreneurship

Velu has acquired international companies like Kiran Labsystems, Imaging Products India, Star Trivitron Dubai, Bome Turkey.[14]

Mr. Narendra Modi, the Honorable Prime Minister of India and Mr. Juha Sipilä, Prime Minister of Finland had inaugurated the Labsystems Diagnostics IVD Factory in February 2016.[15]

Velu is the anchor Investor at Stakeboat Capital,[16] a Private Equity Fund and runs a family office named GSK Ventures investing into Healthcare & Technology Space.[17]

In 2018 he founded Neuberg Diagnostics, A Global Pathology brand, operating in India, UAE, Sri Lanka, South Africa.[18] He has named it after the Father of Pathology, Carl Neuberg.[19]
