Friedenstal, Alberta

Friedenstal is a locality in Alberta, Canada.[1]

Located 4 kilometers southeast of Fairview in the Peace River country of Alberta, The locality took its name from Friedenthal, in Romania.[2] the name is German for "Peace Valley".

Friedenstal was founded just before WW I by immigrant settlers of Ukrainian-German origin, many of whom can be found in the small cemetery located behind the Catholic Church. Little else remains of the former homesteaders' community.
