Freddie Odom

Douglas Fred "Freddie" Odom, Jr. is an actor, author, teacher, and Independent American politician. In March 2012, as a City Councilmember, Odom came out as an autistic person. He was subsequently elected Mayor of Bluffton, Georgia.

After successfully auditioning for a role alongside Victoria Henley in the play Sister Queens,[1] Odom became a regular cast member in "Georgia's Official Folk-Life Play," Swamp Gravy.[2] He was elected to the Bluffton City Council in November 2010.[3] After appearing in an article on Swamp Gravy in the January/February 2012 issue of Southwest Georgia Living, Odom self-identified as autistic in the following issue.[4]

In 2014, Odom published a book about his experiences, titled They Can Kill Me, But They Can't Eat Me. [5]
