Frankie Byrne (broadcaster)

Frankie Byrne (1922 - 11 December 1993) was an Irish public relations consultant and broadcaster. She was best known for presenting the radio programme Women's Page, in which she responded to listener's letters regarding personal relationships and marital problems.[1] The programme, which was sponsored by biscuit producer Jacob's, was broadcast on RTÉ Radio from 1963 to 1985.[2] She wrote a similar Agony Aunt column for the Evening Press during the same period.[3]

Byrne was closely associated with the annual Jacob's Award event, also sponsored by the biscuit producers, which recognised outstanding contributions to Irish broadcasting.

Earlier in her career, in the late 1940s, Frankie Byrne worked at the Brazilian embassy in Dublin.[4] She also became a close friend of RTÉ presenter Frank Hall, and was reported to have had a child with him in the 1950s.[5]
