Francisco Tavares is a rugby union strength and conditioning coach with Glasgow Warriors.[1]

Rugby Union career

Coaching career

After being a personal trainer for the fitness club Holmes Place from 2009 to 2011, Tavares moved to be a strength and conditioning coach in rugby union.[2]

He was given the job of Asst. Strength and Conditioning coach at the Portuguese Rugby Federation. He remained there until 2013.[2]

He was offered a one month intern at Leinster Rugby as a Strength and Conditioning coach in October 2013.[2]

Moving back to Portugal, he became the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Cascais Rugby Linha.[2]

In 2015 he moved to New Zealand to be the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Chiefs.[2]

In 2016 he became Head of Strength and Conditioning for Portuguese Rugby Federation.[2]

He started as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for Glasgow Warriors in June 2017.[1]

Academic career

He has written and co-written many publications on the biological principles and methods of strength training.[2][3]

He became an invited lecturer on Master Degree in Strength and Conditioning for the University of Lisbon's Faculty of Human Kinetics in 2015.[2]
