Emily Fortune Feimster (born July 1, 1980)[1] is an American writer, comedian, and actress. Feimster made her television debut on NBC's Last Comic Standing in 2010.[1] Between 2015 and 2017 she starred as Colette on The Mindy Project.
Early life and education
Emily Fortune Feimster was born in Charlotte, to Mike and Ginger Feimster.[1] She grew up in Belmont, North Carolina and graduated from South Point High School in 1998.[2]
She moved to Los Angeles in 2003 to pursue comedy after graduating from Peace College in North Carolina.[3] In 2005, she joined The Groundlings Theatre to take improv and sketch classes. After four years of training, she was selected to be in the Groundlings' Sunday Company.[4]
Feimster identifies as lesbian[5] and came out in 2005 at the age of 25.[1]
