Finsbury Town Hall was a civic building in use until the Metropolitan Borough of Finsbury was incorporated into Islington London Borough Council in 1965. It is a Grade II* listed building.[1]

Designed in 1895 by C. Evans-Vaughan, in a mixed Flemish Revival Renaissance – Liberty/Art Nouveau style with red bricks, Portland stone, cast iron porch in a triangular island shape, with main entrance on Rosebery Avenue; undertook a number of later alterations in the years and it is listed since 1950.[2]

Eleven projects were submitted in 1892 to enlarge and replace the local Clerkenwell Vestry, and the contract was finally awarded to Charles Dearing and Sons of Islington to be erected as per C. Evans-Vaughan’s project.

The building was inaugurated in 1895 by Lord Rosebery as the new Vestry Hall. With the formation of the Borough, the building became the local Town Hall, and was named at first Clerkenwell Town Hall.

As of today, apart from being a wedding venue, the building is home to the performing arts college Urdang Academy, with the main rooms used for dancing classes.[3]
