Fightmag (stylized as FIGHTMAG) is an Australian online magazine that covers combat sports (Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts) internationally. [1] It publishes pieces including news, video, opinion, reviews, events, style and blogs.

History

Fightmag was founded in August 2005 by the President of the World Kickboxing Network Stephane Cabrera. It was originally based in France, being oriented for Francophonie. In a year time it evolved internationally and the publishing started in two languages, English and French.[2]

Since 2009 Fightmag is operated out of Australia and published in English. In 2015 Fightmag marked the date of its tenth anniversary.[3] In October 2016 Fightmag has been cited in the FightBox HD in which it was called "a leading online fight magazine out of Australia".[4]

The team of authors led by Belarusian-Australian kickboxer Parviz Iskenderov [5], comprises predominantly athletes, including several World Champions in kickboxing and boxing, such as Nathan Corbett and Daniel Dawson, among others, as well as Australian model Lilian Dikmans [6].

Breaking stories

On August 4, 2017 Fightmag was the first to release the breaking news video [7] posted on YouTube [8] that shows the fight between Bob Sapp and Gregory Tony, happened post weigh-in ceremony at the VIP event Fight Night Saint Tropez.[9] [10] [11] [12] [13]

On April 30, 2017 Fightmag released the breaking news video posted on YouTube [14] which shows Serbian Rade Opacic scoring the first round knockout victory with head kick against Czech Ondrej Hutnik at Simply the Best 14 Prague. [15][16][17][18][19][20]

Focus on Muay Thai

Fightmag strives to help popularizing Muay Thai globally. A significant part of its pieces is dedicated to this sport, which makes it one of only a few to specialize in the field. Among everything, as of 2017 it appears to prominently cover activities of the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur, aspiring to help its movement towards the Olympics.

Partnership

Since 2014 Fightmag appears as a media partner of several kickboxing television series such as Simply the Best [21] and Girl Power [22].
