Fighting with My Family is an upcoming comedy film based on the 2012 documentary The Wrestlers: Fighting with My Family, directed by Max Fisher, telling the story of WWE professional wrestler Paige.[1] It is written and directed by Stephen Merchant, with Dwayne Johnson executive producing and also appearing in the film.

Premise

The Bevis family, who all are professional wrestlers, try to work through the issues that arise when sister and brother duo, Saraya and Zak, audition for roles in WWE.[2]

Cast

Production

On 7 February 2017, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Dwayne Johnson and Stephen Merchant had teamed with WWE Studios and Film4 to produce a film based on the life of Saraya "Paige" Bevis, a professional wrestler with WWE.[1] Merchant was to write and direct the film, while Johnson was to cameo in the film and executive produce. In the days after the announcement, the main cast was revealed: Florence Pugh as Saraya,[3] Jack Lowden as Saraya's brother Zak, and Lena Headey and Nick Frost as their parents.[2] Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer acquired the distribution rights on February 10 for US$17.5 million.[4] On 14 February, Johnson announced that Vince Vaughn had been cast and that filming would commence the following day.[5][6] In-ring scenes were filmed after WWE Raw on 20 February at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.[7][8] Filming also took place around Norwich, England, with locations around the city used in the film.[9]

Release

Fighting with My Family is scheduled to be released in the United States on 1 March 2019.[10]
