Faith Martin

Faith Martin is an English author who was born in Oxford. She lives in an Oxfordshire village. She is best known for her popular detective series, starring Detective Inspector (DI) Hillary Greene. She began her writing career as Maxine Barry. She also writes under the pen names, Joyce Cato^[1] and Jessie Daniels.

Hillary Greene Series

Faith Martin is best known for writing a series of detective novels set in Oxfordshire, with the lead character being CID DI Hillary Greene^[2] who works out of Thames Valley Police Headquarters in Kidlington.

Hillary Greene lives on a narrowboat, and this is a link to why all of the books in her series have the word 'narrow' in the title. Whereas Inspector Morse spent his time solving the surprisingly large number of murder cases in the city of Oxford, DI Hillary Greene works in the towns and villages in the north of Oxfordshire, where there are also a large number of such cases.

Black star Crime

The Hillary Greene books were fairly successful when they were first released by Faith Martin, although they never really got much attention. However, in 2008, Blackstar Crime republished 'A Narrow Escape' and the book was a huge success. It was a major success and they have now released 'On the Straight and Narrow' in paper back too.
